FAQs

There are many trading systems and courses out there.  Why should I join the Emini Academy?

There are many good resources that can teach you about the markets.  There’s also a lot of misinformation and outdated education on the internet.  Our training program is designed to teach you how to master a fully-developed trading strategy, not a bunch of theory.  If you’re looking for a trading strategy that can take the guessing out of what trades to take and how to manage them, coupled with an intense training program, then you’re at the right place!  The Emini Academy team of traders, educators, and strategy developers is always looking to stay on top of the market as the market dynamics change.  When you enroll in our training program, you’re not just buying a course, you’re joining a team of professionals ready, willing and able to help you achieve your goals!

How long will it take me to learn the MAP Trading Strategy?

Our interactive training program takes on average 1-3 weeks to complete.  You’ll have access to a step-by-step curriculum that is designed to teach you the strategy in the most efficient and effective way possible so you can start trading!  Once you complete the curriculum, we put you through live trading training process where you’ll take your knowledge and apply it in the market, real time!

What trading platforms do you support?

We recommend that you use either NinjaTrader or TradeStation.  The MAP Trading Strategy’s proprietary indicators are programmed to work with NinjaTrader and TradeStation.  We believe these to be the best trading platforms available for professional e-mini traders.

What time of the day should I trade?

We typically trade from 9:30am-11:00am EST.  Some traders like to trade the afternoon sessions as well, which is perfectly fine.  We’ve found historically that the morning session has the best volume and volatility.  However, the strategy performs very well throughout the entire trading day.

Can I use the MAP Trading Strategy in other markets?

Absolutely!  We like to trade the S&P 500 e-mini because of the consistent volume and volatility, but you can adjust your settings to trade other e-mini , equity, or currency markets.

Is this one of those “black-box”, automated systems?

No way!  Eventually, all fully automated trading systems fail.  The MAP Trading Strategy is a rules-based strategy that includes very specific, high probability setups.  It takes the guessing out of what trades to take and how to manage those trades.  We are constantly updating and adjusting the strategy along with current market dynamics.

What’s the minimum amount of money I need to start trading?

Most brokers require you open an account with at least $5,000.

Does the MAP Trading Strategy use automatic stops to protect me?

Yes, we use a maximum 1.25 point stop ($62.50 on the S&P 500 e-mini).  We have a very disciplined approach to risk management and “risk-to-reward” ratios.  Our average winner is around 3-5 points.  By keeping our stops smaller than our winners, it really takes away the stress most traders encounter when trading.

What kind of support am I going to receive from you?

We offer email and phone support to all of our students.  One-on-one phone support is limited to regular business hours.   Our team is ready, willing, and able to help you in any way we can.

Can I make money when the market goes down?  How about trending and channeling markets?

Yes!  You can make money if the market goes up, down, or sideways.  We can “short” the market, which makes you money if the markets go down.  Read: Emini Basics.  Our multiple trade setups work in both trending and channeling markets.

Do you ever have losing days?

Of course we do… all systems and strategies have certain periods of time when they lose money.  However, we are obsessed with control risk and preserving our capital.  We have max losses that will protect us in market environments that are “choppy” or not conducive for trading.  Some systems will have losing days that can wipe out days, weeks, or even months of profits.  Our risk management plan will not let that happen.

Will I be able to start trading only using the MAP Trading Strategy, and if your training program is the only experience I’ve had with trading?

Yes, no prior market experience is necessary prior to joining us.  Our program is great for both new traders and professional traders.  Our training program will teach you the basics, then show you how to trade the market using the MAP Trading Strategy.  We don’t just teach general trading theory, it’s a tested, proven system.
